It is truly amazing how one simple and positive action can change the outlook of our day, week, month or life in general. I am talking about the act of gratitude.

Gratitude is defined as the quality of being thankful; readiness to show appreciation for and to return kindness. And yes it has the power to change our lives! Even scientists tell us that adopting an “attitude of gratitude” is good for our health! Studies have shown that it makes us happier and gives us a more optimistic outlook on life and I agree.

The amazing thing however with adopting a lifestyle of gratitude is that we can start today and it is free.  Some ways we can incorporate gratitude into our life includes:

  • Be intentional of saying ‘Thank You’ – Keep a gratitude Journal. Take a few minutes each morning and make a list of everything you are thankful for. It could be anything from a good night sleep, to a bed to sleep in and a roof over your head. Now go through list and say a Thank you to God for each one of them.
  • Change your vocabulary: Make a list of positive words you will use all through your day, words such as ‘Thank You’, ‘I can’, ‘I will’ or ‘I Love You’.
  • Replace Criticism with Gratitude: Instead of criticizing yourself or those near you, why not show gratitude instead. That issue or problem you are facing or that you might have been presented with could be worse, that thing you did not do, the impact could have been much more detrimental, but it wasn’t and so that is something to still be thankful for. With God’s help whatever the problem or issue, it will be resolved.
  • Replace complaints with Thankful. Instead of complaining of how bad things are, be thankful that you have the ability, energy, help and sound mind to resolve them.
  • Adopt a thankful lifestyle by reading our free EBook devotionals – Thanksgiving & Praise and Continuous gratitude. They will help you daily to develop a life that is filled with gratitude for all God has done and continues to do for you.

Gratitude is a lifestyle that I have chosen to adopt and I invite you to try it and experience the phenomenal benefits of what being thankful on a daily basis can bring; from peace of mind to closeness to God and continuous blessings from Him.
